Alpha builds team for North Sea Cheviot project

Alpha Petroleum Resources expects to take a final investment decision in November for the Cheviot development in the UK North Sea.

GUILDFORD, UK – Alpha Petroleum Resources expects to take a final investment decision in November for the Cheviot development in the UK North Sea, and is targeting first oil in 2019 at a rate of at least 30,000 b/d.

The company has just appointed Martin Freeman, former Group Head of Engineering at BG Group, as project manager for Cheviot.

It has also recruited Guy Sharman as SURF/SPS manager, and Lawrence Ritchie as wells manager to the Cheviot team, to work alongside the existing FPSO team of Nigel Hill and Tom Kristiansen.
Freeman led technical and engineering operations for projects in Australia (2011-14), Brazil (2009-11) and Kazakhstan (2007-9).

Sharman was formerly with Nexen Petroleum, where he led subsea development for the second phase of the Buzzard field in the UK central North Sea (2015-17).

Ritchie joins from Glencore, where he was head of well engineering.

Alpha Petroleum is working withBaker Hughes, a GE company on the subsea infrastructure and integrated drilling services for Cheviot. Teekay Offshore Partners L.P. is nearing completion of the front-end engineering design study for use of the Varg FPSO.
