HOUSTON – Occidental of Abu Dhabi, on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC), has contracted KBR to manage the front-end engineering and design services (FEED) phase of the Dalma gas field development and the detailed design and surveys phase of the Hail and Ghasha Islands project.

All the fields are in shallow water southwest of Abu Dhabi City.

KBR will provide project management consultancy services over a 24-month period, extendable by a further 12 months.

Dalma is part of ADNOC’s gas master plan to increase productivity, performance, and delivery.

Hail and Ghasha together comprise one of the company’s largest ever sour gas field projects, and are forecast to produce around 1 bcf/d of sour gas.

Infrastructure needs for this project include a minimum of 11 offshore artificial islands.

These fields, along with the Nasr and Shuwaihat fields, are known collectively as theNorth-West Area, and are thought to hold around 5 tcf.

Technip subsidiary Genesis Oil and Gas reportedly performed conceptual studies for the project and the proposed artificial islands, similar to those deployed for Abu Dhabi’s offshore Zadco oil project.
