DUBAI, UAEGulf Marine Services is in talks to secure contracts for its self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs) serving the offshore oil and gas industry.

However, while tender activity has been encouraging, there have been delays in contract awards and commencement dates.

GMS is hopeful of finalizing terms soon for two new contracts with a client in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region, both likely to start next March.

One is for a Large Class SESV vessel with a charter period of eight months, including options, and the other is for a Mid-Size Class vessel with a charter period of eight months, again including options.

The company has secured a five-month contract extension for another Mid-Size Class vessel to the end of 2017, and an extension to end-1Q 2018 for a Small Class vessel, both for operations in the MENA region.

Another Large Class vessel has started an 18-month charter in Europe.
