STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil will develop the Snefrid Nord gas field in the Norwegian Sea as a tieback to the Aasta Hansteen field infrastructure.
Aker Solutions, which is supplying subsea kit for theAasta Hansteen development, will also deliver the single-slot subsea template, a suction anchor and umbilicals for Snefrid Nord from the company’s manufacturing plants in Sandnessjøen and Moss.
Subsea 7, another Aasta Hansteen contractor, will supply the flowlines and spools and manage all subsea installations. All contracts are subject to Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approval of the supplement to the Aasta Hansteen development plan.
Statoil discovered Snefrid Nord in 2015, and estimates recoverable reserves at around 5 bcm of gas. The development concept calls for a single well in a single-slot subsea template in 1,312 m (4,304 ft) water depth tied back to theAasta Hansteen spar platform through the Luva template 6 km (3.7 mi) away.
Snefrid Nord, due onstream in 2019, a year after Aasta Hansteen, should produce 4 MMcm/d of gas in the plateau phase, with a forecast productive life of five to six years. Estimated capex for the development is around NOK1.2 billion ($143 million).
Statoil’s partners are Wintershall, OMV, and ConocoPhillips Skandinavia.
