CALGARY, CanadaHusky Energy expects construction of the fixed wellhead platform for the West White Rose project offshore Newfoundland to start during 4Q.

Work is due to get under way on the concrete gravity structure and associated drilling facilities, utilities, support services, and accommodation for personnel.

First oil should follow in 2022, building to an anticipated peak production of around 75,000 b/d in 2025 as development wells are increasingly drilled and brought online.

During 4Q, Husky also plans to drill a new development well at South White Rose, while the company and its partner are assessing the Northwest White Rose discovery: the well, drilled this spring, delineated a 100-m (328-ft) gross light oil column.

Elsewhere in the region, Husky added, three-week turnarounds are planned at both the SeaRose and Terra Nova FPSOs.
