LONDONOphir Energy will P&A its first deepwater exploration well offshore Côte d’Ivoire as a dry hole.

TheAyame-1X well, which has reached a TD of 5,394 m (17,697 ft), was targeting turbidite channel complexes of Santonian and Turonian age.

Although there were traces of oil in the target reservoirs, these were not significant.

According to Ophir, the well involved drilling and casing of the longest riser-less surface section in the region and reached total depth in the subsequent hole section with a single bit run, claimed to be another basin first.
