SOLA, Norway – IKM Subsea is preparing to mobilize the first equipment for an ROV services contract awarded last August for Statoil’s Visund and Snorre B facilities in the North Sea.
The scope covers testing and installation of an electrical, permanently seabed-installed residential ROV (RROV), capable of continuous subsea operations as required. The system will be managed from IKM’s onshore control center via Tampnet, a fiber-based network system for the Visund/Snorre B platforms.
A Merlin UCV (ultra compact vehicle) work class ROV and other new technology will be deployed to supply the residential capacity and communication links needed to support the project.
The system has undergone testing in a newly installed test tank at Bryne, where the onshore control center is also under construction.
In a separate development, Australian independent Quadrant Energy has contracted IKM Testing Australia to test and flush an umbilical and flexible flowline in Jurong Port, Singapore.
