MDL completes Caribbean offshore flex-lay deployment

Maritime Developments Ltd. has concluded a flex-lay operation offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

ABERDEEN, UKMaritime Developments Ltd. (MDL) has concluded a flex-lay operation offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

The company’s 400-metric ton (441-ton) reel drive system and four-track tensioner were deployed alongside MDL’a portable vertical lay system.

All equipment was mobilized on board theNorth Sea Giant before heading to the Caribbean for the 35-day campaign, which included numerous flexible and umbilical lays.

On completion, the spread returned to Europe, where it was demobilized off the vessel within 48 hours.

The most recent add-on to the MDL offshore service fleet, the 110-metric ton (121-ton) four-track tensioner, recently returned to the company’s Peterhead facility in Scotland following its maiden project offshore India.

The MDL TTS-4/310 was used to transition a small-diameter umbilical from the beach to the seabed at 160 m (525 ft) water depth.
