KONGSBERG, NorwayKongsberg Maritime Inc. and Houston-based Stress Engineering Services (SES) have formed an alliance to offer engineering services and integrated technical solutions for offshore drilling and floating production systems.

This combines SES’ experience in all aspects of offshore drilling with the Kongsberg dynamic positioning and automation systems for mobile offshore drilling units.

Targeted clients are drilling contractors, oil and gas companies, original equipment manufacturers and others in the upstream market, covering all stages of drilling and workover from planning, execution, post-operations and condition-based maintenance.

The two companies will seek to improve and develop new functionality for the Kongsberg real-time riser management system with a focus on riser and wellhead fatigue – the system is said to be fully integrated with other Kongsberg systems installed on MODUs including K-Pos DP, K-Chief marine automation, acoustic systems and the Kongsberg Information Management System (K-IMS), for data aggregation, data analytics and remote access and monitoring.

SES will provide enabling technology such as its subsea vibration data loggers and real-time fatigue monitoring system to assess riser and wellhead fatigue.

In floating production, Kongsberg will provide its experience in the design and analysis of flexible riser and umbilical systems while SES brings riser expertise for both greenfield and brownfield applications.
