US Gulf of Mexico rig count falls to 18

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week to reach 18, according to the latest Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week to reach 18, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Mar. 24, 2017. That number is down by nine year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by 10 year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 20 week-over-week at 809, with oil rigs up by 21 to 652, gas rigs down by two to 155, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 345, with oil rigs up by 280, gas rigs up by 63, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
