TEHRAN, IranTotal is in talks with an Iranian official on developing further upstream oil projects in Iran, according to news service Shana.

Gholamreza Manouchehri, deputy for development and engineering the National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC), said discussions extend to manufacturing of industrial equipment, drilling and offshore services, and other engineering services.

Last week, France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault was in Tehran for a two-day visit, heading a 60-strong senior politico-economic delegation.

In November, NIOC signed a heads of agreement with Total for development ofSouth Pars Phase 11 in the Persian Gulf. 

Manouchehri said NIOC was seeking to promote the drilling capabilities of Iranian rigs, buts also cooperation between Iranian companies and French partners to improve the quality, speed, and services of Iranian drilling projects.

The South Pars Phase 11 project will have a production capacity of 1.8 bcf/d. Total will operate with a 50.1% interest, in partnership with NIOC subsidiary Petropars and Chinese state-owned oil and gas company CNPC.
