Repsol prepares for Norwegian Sea wildcat

Repsol has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well close to the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Repsol has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well close to the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Spitsbergen will spud well 6705/7-1 after completing its current wildcat well 205/23-3a for Hurricane Energy west of Shetland.

Repsol’s target is in production license 705, comprising blocks 6705/8 and 6705/9 and parts of blocks 6705/7 and 6705/10.

The location is around 330 km (205 mi) west of Bodø.

This will be the first well on the license, which was awarded in mid-2013.
