The Ayame-1 well will target around 240 MMbbl recoverable resources with an estimated 28% chance of commercial success.

Ophir also plans to take decisions over the next six to 18 months on options for wildcat activity offshore Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Equatorial Guinea.

Last month Ophir secured its first exploration acreage outside Asia and Africa as a partner to Murphy Oil in thedeepwater block 5 license offshore Mexico. The company claims this was the most contested acreage in the bid round.
