    OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Eni to drill an exploration well in the Barents Sea.

    Saipem’s semisubmersibleScarabeo 8 will drill well 7318/12-1 in production license 716, 80 km (49.7 mi) northwest of the Johan Castberg field and 320 km (199 mi) from the northern Norwegian coast.

    This will be the first well on the license, awarded in mid-2013 under Norway’s 22nd licensing round.
