GE premiers LM9000 gas turbine

GE Oil & Gas has introduced the LM9000, a 65-MW, 43% simple cycle efficiency aeroderivative gas turbine based on the GE90 jet engine fitted on Boeing 777s.

FLORENCE, ItalyGE Oil & Gas has introduced the LM9000, a 65-MW, 43% simple cycle efficiency aeroderivative gas turbine based on the GE90 jet engine fitted on Boeing 777s.

Improvements are said to include a 50% longer maintenance interval, 20% more power and 40% lower NOx emissions, resulting in 20% lower cost of ownership for LNG customers in offshore settings.

Incorporation of dry low emissions technology, developed using GE’s additive manufacturing capabilities, is said to provide dual-fuel capability and lower NOx (nitrogen oxide) emission, while eliminating water use in emissions abatement.

Other advantages are a modular package design said to allow greater adaptability, shorter manufacturing cycles and faster installation, and lower installed and operational costs than field-erected units.
