SHANGHAI, China – CSSC Wärtsilä Engine Co. Ltd. (CWEC), a joint venture between Wärtsilä and China State Shipbuilding Corp. (CSSC), has opened its new production facilities at Lingang, Shanghai.
The 20,000-sq m (215,278-sq ft) production plant is said to be the first in China capable of producing large-bore, medium speed diesel and dual-fuel (DF) engines.
It will also manufacture medium-bore, medium speed diesel and DF engines, with a capacity to produce 180 engines per year.
This covers the Wärtsilä 26, Wärtsilä 32, Wärtsilä 34DF, Wärtsilä 46F and Wärtsilä 46DF engines.
CWEC is focused on the offshore, LNG carrier, special vessel, and other ship markets.
