US Gulf of Mexico rig count jumps up to 23

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 23.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 23, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Nov. 18, 2016. That number is down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the GoM rig count, increasing by two to 23. The overall US offshore rig count is also down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 20 week-over-week at 588, with oil rigs up by nineteen to 471, gas rigs up by one to 116, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 169 rigs, with oil rigs down by 93, gas rigs down by 77, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
