LONDON – Development drilling has re-started on the Te Giac Trang (TGT) field in block 16-1 offshore southern Vietnam.

According to partnerSOCO International, the PetroVietnam jackup PVD-6 spudded the first well yesterday on the H4-wellhead platform (WHP) in the central area of the field, the first of two barch-drilled infill wells (TGT-27P and TGT-28P).

On completion, two more infill wells could follow on the southern H5-WHP.

Discussions on theTGT full field development plan are in the final stages ahead of formal submission to the Vietnamese authorities.

This calls for additional wells and facilities options to increase fluid-handling capacity.

Ed Story, SOCO’s president and CEO, said: “SOCO has the balance sheet strength to fully fund this program from existing cash resources whilst taking advantage of the low drilling cost environment. Meanwhile, we continue to focus on enhancing the field water-handling capacity and arresting the field decline.”
