THE WOODLANDS, TexasAnadarko says it plans to spud an exploration well during the current quarter on the Purple Angel block offshore northwest Colombia.

This will test objectives similar to those that delivered the company’sKronos discovery.

During 3Q, work finished on the 30,000-sq km (11,583-sq mi) 3D Esmeralda survey over offshore blocks COL 1, 2, 6, and 7. This was the company’s largest 3D survey to date and one of the largest worldwide.

In block CI-103 off Cote d’Ivoire, a drillstem test followed successful appraisal drilling at the company’s deepwaterPaon oil and gas discovery.

Maximum stable flow rates (equipment-constrained) were 9,000 b/d and 21 MMcf/d.

Deliverability was in line with expectations and an ongoing interference test has confirmed reservoir connectivity.

In offshore blocks CI-527 and CI-528, Anadarko’s Pelican-1X well (along trend to Paon) intersected around 70 ft (21.3 m) of net oil pay in two separate intervals.

Another well, Rossignol-1X, on block CI-528 encountered well-developed sands and roughly 15 ft (4.6 m) of net oil pay on water.

Anadarko and its partner are currently evaluating a 2017 exploration program for the Côte d’Ivoire acreage.
