ABERDEEN, UK – Aquatic has designed and constructed a new skidding system to interface with the integrated track system on DeepOcean’s offshore construction vessel Edda Freya.

This involved modification of an existing track system slider, compatible with Aquatic’s largest reel drive systems, negating the need for DeepOcean to hire or purchase a comparable reel drive system.

Aquatic claims this approach saved the client hundreds of man-hours of draughting time in solution design and reworking back deck drawings, and thousands of dollars in seafastening and mobilization costs.

During AugustEdda Freya’s mobilized from Kristiansund, Norway, for the Maria project in the Norwegian Sea, to install risers, a dynamic umbilical, and cable linking the Maria subsea facilities to the Kristin and Heidrun platforms.

Aquatic provided the 500-metric ton (551-ton) reel drive package, including skidding system, and operational personnel for a 50-day hire.
