Statoil cuts short West Epsilon jackup contract

Statoil will cancel the final phase of its contract with North Atlantic Drilling for the jackup West Epsilon.

STAVANGER, NorwayStatoil will cancel the final phase of its contract with North Atlantic Drilling for the jackup West Epsilon.

The rig has been on contract since late 2010, working on the Sleipner, Gudrun, and Huldra licenses in the North Sea.

Currently it is performing permanent well plugging on theHuldra field, with progress ahead of schedule.

After completing operations the rig will be sent ashore for equipment demobilization, with the contract then terminated, around two months earlier than the original expiry date.

None of the licenses has any upcoming work over the remaining contract period, nor does Statoil have any other activities elsewhere to assign the spare capacity.
