US Gulf of Mexico rig count up by one to 18

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased by one to 18 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 19, 2016.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexicorig count has increased by one to 18 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 19, 2016. That number is down by 13 year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, which was also up by one to 18. That metric is down by 14 year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 10 week-over-week at 491, with oil rigs up by 10 to 406, gas rigs unchanged at 83, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 394 rigs, with oil rigs down by 268, gas rigs down 128, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
