HAMILTON, Bermuda – Teekay Shipping’s unit for maintenance and service (UMS) Arendal Spirit, designed by Sevan Marine, has resumed operations for Petrobras offshore Brazil.
The gangway of the UMS, which is connected to an FPSO, suffered extensive damage earlier this year resulting in the system being declared off-hire under its charter contract.
However, the gangway has since been replaced and undergone extensive testing, allowing the UMS to re-start service in early July.
Teekay adds that its income from vessel operations has also been negatively impacted by a $43.7-million write-down of two UMS newbuilds following cancellation of the related construction contracts during 2Q.
