US offshore rig count rises to 22

The overall US offshore drilling rig count increased to 22 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of July 15, 2016.

HOUSTON – The overall US offshore drilling rig count increased to 22 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of July 15, 2016. That number was up by three over the past week, but was still down by nine compared to last year.

The higher number was driven by an increase in the US Gulf of Mexico rig count, which jumped by three over the past week to reach 21, according to the report. That number is down by 10 compared to last year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by seven week-over-week at 447, with oil rigs up by six at 357, gas rigs up by one to 89, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 410 rigs, with oil rigs down by 281, gas rigs down 129, and miscellaneous rigs holding steady at one.
