Seven Waves docked at extended Shetland quay

LERWICK, UKSubsea 7’s 146-m (479-ft) long construction vessel Seven Waves has berthed at Lerwick Harbour’s deepwater Dales Voe Base on Shetland, ahead of a contract offshore eastern Canada.

The quay has undergone a phased £11.95-million ($15.77-million), 75-m (246-ft) extension to 130 m (426 ft). Last week, the coasterEendracht was the first vessel to take advantage, arriving to deliver equipment for transfer to the Seven Waves.

Complementary works at the base, including reclamation, a laydown yard and demolition of a redundant building, will continue into the fall.

The Shetland port is a long-established support center for the offshore industry in the northern North Sea and in the Atlantic to the west, includingsubsea development and decommissioning projects.
