DUBAI, UAE– A new branch of the Fugro Academy Training Centre has been established in Abu Dhabi.

It comprises three training suites; an engineering workshop; a simulation suite; a seven-function manipulator trainer; and offices. It also has direct access toFugro’s own quayside and equipment within the base area. Fugro said it expects that hundreds of its global staff will visit the center annually, along with clients requiring specific training.

“Following the success of the Fugro Academy in Plymouth, which focuses on survey training, we decided to create a subsea training center to work in partnership with our UK colleagues,” explains Subsea Division Training Manager, Darren Walley. “Locating the facility alongside our highly successful ROV training center here in Abu Dhabi builds on Fugro’s close ties with theUnited Arab Emirates and brings us the benefits associated with an abundance of local specialist personnel and equipment suppliers.”

The Fugro Academy was created in 2006 as a global group-wide standardized training initiative to develop staff and support recruitment. It provides office-based and field staff with both instructor-led practical courses and online hosted e-learning modules on a variety of technical, HSE and business-related topics.
