Wintershall steps up exploration drilling offshore mid-Norway

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Wintershall Norge to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian Sea, using the semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin.

OSLO, Norway– The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Wintershall Norge to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian Sea, using the semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin.

The rig will spud well 35/11-19 S in production license 248 F after completing its current wildcat for the same operator in PL 248.

According to NPD, the location is 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Florø and 20 km (12 mi) northwest of theFram oil field.
