MOSCOWRosneft has started production drilling at the Lebedinskoye oil and gas condensate field in the Sea of Okhotsk offshore northeast Russia.

Contractor RN-Burenie is drilling a 5.3-km (3.3-mi) long horizontal extend-reach well from the shore for Rosneft subsidiary RN-Sakhalinmorneftegaz.

During the well construction, the real-time reservoir mapping technology should ensure optimum entry into formation, assist decisions on wellbore trajectory adjustment, and help refine the field development program.

Rosneft plans to drill three horizontal production wells with lengths of 5,000-7,000 m (16,404-22,966 ft) this year, using RN-Sakhalinmorneftegaz infrastructure for the development.

Lebedinskoye is offshore the Okhinsky District, Sakhalin Region. Two exploratory wells were drilled previously, one of which was put on pilot production.

Quality of the crude is said to be close to that of the Sokol grade.
