Early 2020s start feasible for deepwater Romania gas project

BUCHAREST, Romania – OMV Petrom and ExxonMobil could take final investment decisions in two years on their deepwater gas discoveries in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.

The companies are co-venturers in theNeptun Deep block.

This January they completed their second exploration drilling campaign on the block. Of the seven wells drilled, most encountered gas. There was also a successful well test of theDomino structure.

In a recent results statement OMV Petrom said the partners planned more detailed work to determine if commercial development is viable.

Potentially, first production could be achieved early in the next decade, the company added.
