TRONDHEIM, Norway – Norway’s Energy Ministry has awarded Det norske oljeselskap interests in three new licenses in the Barents Sea under the country’s 23rd licensing round.

Gro G. Haatvedt, senior vice president exploration of Det norske, said: “Det norske wants to invest heavily in the Barents Sea. It is important to get access to new exploration acreage, as we have now.

“These awards offer several exciting opportunities, but at the same time there is always a greater risk associated with new areas.”

The company will operate production license 858 with a 40% interest, in partnership with Lukoil, Statoil, and Petoro.

In PL 857, operated by Statoil, Det norske will have a 20% stake, while in PL 852, operated by Centrica, its interest will be 40%.
