RIO DE JANEIROPetrobras’ oil production averaged 2.02 MMb/d in March, 3% down on the previous month’s figure.

The main cause was continued shutdowns at large offshore production centers; maintenance on theP-31 platform, which resumed production on March 28; and a fire aboard the P-48 platform, where operations restarted last week.

However, the company’sdeepwater presalt oil and gas production continues to grow, up by 1.2% last month to a new high of 1.104 MMboe/d.

During the second half of the year, the company expects to start up the FPSOsCidade de Saquarema in the Lula Central region in the Santos basin and Cidade de Caraguatatuba on Lapa.

With fewer shutdowns scheduled,Petrobras expects to stick to its target for the year of 2.145 MMb/d of oil from its Brazilian fields.
