ABERDEEN, UK– Guidance Marine Ltd. has established a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sonardyne Brazil Ltda to provide support for its Artemis product in Brazil.

Under the terms of the MoU, Sonardyne said it is now available to carry out equipment servicing and repair for the Artemis system, a microwave position reference sensor for use in long range marine dynamic positioning (DP) applications on Guidance Marine’s behalf.

Sonardyne said its underwater acoustic and inertial navigation equipment is operational in every deepwater field in Brazil and that it complements Guidance Marine’s own DP product offering. The company has had a permanent presence in the country for over 24 years, it noted, and opened a facility in Rio das Ostras near Macaé in 2012 to provide operational support, equipment servicing, and operator training.

Having successfully completed the Artemis product and brand acquisition from CHL Netherlands in March 2015, the MoU strengthens Guidance Marine's support capabilities in the region and enhances the company’s ability to respond to Artemis customers, including Petrobras, Transpetro, Modec, SBM Offshore, and Teekay.

Sonardyne said that the agreement follows collaborative technology workshops between the two companies for DP vessel owners and operators.
