CATERHAM, UKArdent Oil has contracted Ikon Science to perform rock physics studies on the Snowdon prospect in the UK central North Sea.

Snowdon is in license P2230, covering blocks 22/03 and 22/08b. According to Ardent, it is an AVA anomaly, mapped on 3D PGS MegaMerge seismic, which gives a similar AVA response to the nearby producing Andrew field.

If results from the study are positive, Ardent will upgrade the prospect to “drill ready.” Horizon Energy Partners has an option to acquire a 50% interest in the license.

Elsewhere in the North Sea, Ardent secured operatorship of four new licenses underDenmark’s 7th offshore round.

These are blocks 10/16, 11/16, 12/16, and 13/16. State oil and gas company Nordsofonden is the sole partner in each case.

PGS has agreed to extend a Geostreamer multi-client 3D broadband seismic survey from theRamform Vanguard to block 11/16, which includes the Jarnsaxa prospect.
