ABU DHABI, UAE – Verotec has supplied Yokogawa with several hundred modified intelligent fan trays for the new Umm Lulu development, 30 km (18.6 mi) offshore Abu Dhabi.

It is expected to produce up to 100,000 b/d of oil when fully operational in 2017.

Yokogawa selected the 1U 19-in. intelligent trays because of their high airflow, low noise, low power consumption, and controllability.

In addition, Verotec undertook to provide fasttrack delivery of units modified to withstand the harsh operating conditions, including summer temperatures regularly above 40°C (104°F).

The salt-laden atmosphere, prevalent even inside the control room, causes rapid corrosion to set in. The fan trays’ PSU and control electronics are therefore protected by a 50 micron polyurethane conformal coating that was third-party verified as meeting the G3 Harsh requirements of ANSI/ISA S71.04-1985, Environmental Conditions for Process Measurement and Control Systems: Airborne Contaminants.
