Eni targets 2017 start-up for Zohr offshore Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has authorized the issue to Eni of the Zohr development lease.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy– Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has authorized the issue to Eni of the Zohr development lease.

Eni discovered the giantZohr gas field last August in the deepwater Shorouk concession in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea. IEOC is the operator.

The company aims to start production by the end of 2017, with output ramping up progressively to around 75 MMcm/d (500,000 boe/d) by 2019.

Eni expects to meet the fasttrack schedule via close cooperation with contractors Petrojet, Enppi and Saipem, which have worked on previous Eni Egyptian development programs.

Currently Eni is drilling its first appraisal well on the structure,Zohr-2.
