North Sea Statpipe gas leak at Kårstø under control

Gas has stopped leaking from the Kårstø processing plant in western Norway.

STAVANGER, Norway – Gas has stopped leaking from the Kårstø processing plant in western Norway.

The leak occurred on the section of theNorth SeaStatpipe gas trunkline leading into the plant. Both Statpipe production trains have since been stopped, and the emergency services team has demobilized.

Early this morning pressure was starting to fall, and work continued thereafter to depressurize the facility.

According toStatoil, the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
