IHC completes third Subsea 7 pipelay vessel

Royal IHC has launched the pipelay vessel Seven Cruzeiro at its shipyard near Rotterdam.

KRIMPEN AAN DEN IJSSEL, the NetherlandsRoyal IHC has launched the pipelay vesselSeven Cruzeiro at its shipyard near Rotterdam.

This was the third in a series ordered bySubsea 7.

The dynamically positioned vessel, built to a jointIHC/Subsea 7 design, can operate in water depths of up to 3,000 m (9,842 ft).

It is equipped with two under-deck storage carousels with a capacity for 2,500 tons and 1,500 tons of products.

A vertical (tiltable) lay system with a 550-ton top tension capacity is permanently installed for deployment of a range of flexible products with a diameter of 50-650 mm (1.97-25.5 in.).

The lay tower can operate at up to 10° from the vertical and is fitted with two wire centralizers and two tensioners, each with a 275-ton capacity, that can be retracted clear of the firing line. Huisman supplied the pipelaying systems.
