FIGUERAS, SpainSimon Møkster Shipping’s latest platform supply vessel has been named Stril Mar at a ceremony at the Gondan shipyard in northern Spain.

The new vessel, built to the UT 776 WP “wave piercing” Rolls Royce Marine design, has a length of 92 m (302 ft) and beam of 20 m (65.6 ft).

Unlike its forerunner vesselStril Luna, delivered in 2014 to the same shipowner, the new PSV has a FiFi II system with monitors installed at the stern, allowing safer and more efficient fire fighting for offshore facilities, Gondan claims.

In addition, the latest vessel has a higher de-Icing class notation and features the RRM “Unified Bridge” control board.

This was the third PSV built by the yard for the Norwegian shipowner.

Both theStril Merkur and Stril Luna provide support to Statoil at oil platforms in the North Sea.
