Anadarko bumps up first oil date for Heidelberg

HOUSTONAnadarko Petroleum Corp. has provided an interim update on its 4Q 2015 performance.

The company announced that itsHeidelberg development in the Gulf of Mexico is “well ahead of schedule.”

Anadarko now expects first oil in 1Q 2016 from the three initial wells, pending regulatory approvals. The project was originally scheduled to come onstream in 2Q 2016.

The company is implementing its “Design one, build two” approach to Heidelberg by constructing a replica of theLucius spar. In doing so, the company previously announced that it had been able to accelerate the anticipated date of first oil by approximately 18 months.

Located in the Green Canyon area of the US GoM, the ultra-deepwater field is located in 5,300 ft (1,615 m) of water and has 200-400 MMbbl of recoverable resources.
