WASHINGTON, D.C. – Offshore reserves may become a future source of Turkey’s oil supply, according to a report by the US Energy Information Administration.

The administration believes there could be significant reserves beneath theAegean Sea, although this has not been confirmed because of continuing territorial disputes with Greece.

In addition, there could be substantial oil production potential in theTurkish part of the Black Sea. Early this year, Shell and state oil company TPAO began exploratory drilling in the Turkish sector, the administration pointed out.
