PARIS – Shell has awarded the Technip Samsung consortium two contracts for the Woodside-operated Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project.

This call for supply of three FLNG vessels to develop the Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa fields in the Browse basin, 425 km (264 mi) north of Broome, Western Australia.

One contract covers front-end engineering and design (FEED) elements, taking into account the composition of the gas, local weather conditions, and other factors specific to each of the three fields.

The other covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the three FLNG units, subject to a final investment decision from the client once the FEED has been completed.

Shell and Technip Samsung, which worked on thePrelude FLNG vessel, will aim for maximized replication for the three Browse FLNG units.
