DUBLIN, Ireland – San Leon Energy says Genel’s well on the Sidi Moussa concession offshore Morocco last year recovered high-quality (26° API) oil from the Noor prospect.
However, no sustainable hydrocarbon flow was possible during test operations.
The partners are examining the resultant dataset to determine their next steps on the license.
Cairn Energy continues to evaluate theoffshore Foum Draa block (San Leon 14.33%) following drilling of a well in late 2013.
San Leon continues to invite farm-ins to its Durresi block offshore Albania, but the process is proving difficult with the oil price remaining depressed. It plans to drill an exploration well from an onshore location targeting an offshore Burdigalian carbonate. The prospect could hold 11 MMbbl of oil and associated gas.
The planned well site is close to an oil refinery and gas infrastructure.
