Middle East NOCs identify technology challenges

The Industry Technology Facilitator’s Gulf Cooperation Council members have agreed to take on three technology challenges.

ABU DHABI, UAE – The Industry Technology Facilitator’s (ITF) Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members have agreed to take on three technology challenges.

Representatives from Kuwait Oil Co., Petroleum Development Oman, andAbu Dhabi National Oil Co. attended a meeting hosted by ADNOC.

They selected three topics – mature fields, hybrid enhanced oil recovery, and fluid front/injection water monitoring and management – and will work with ITF’s subsurface team to define initial problem statements related to these three issues.

Later they and ITF will invite calls for proposed solutions which should result in various new joint industry projects, with up to 100% funding from the ITF membership.

Additionally, ITF also updated the three NOCs on its global proposals which include: EOR in carbonates, production monitoring for highly heterogeneous reservoirs, downhole oil-water separation, triaxial borehole gravity and positioning, andFullwave Gamechanger Phase 2.
