Majors support Norway flexibles research

The Research Council of Norway has awarded 4Subsea funding for a research initiative on corrosion in flexible pipes, as part of the Petromaks2 program.

NESBRU, Norway – The Research Council of Norway has awarded 4Subsea funding for a research initiative on corrosion in flexible pipes, as part of the Petromaks2 program.

Aims include developing new methods of assessing structural integrity, and improved understanding of corrosion mechanisms within flexible pipes.

IFE (Institute for Energy Technology) will provide laboratory testing services. Sponsors are A/S Norske Shell, ExxonMobil Norway, and Statoil. Research is expected to be completed within two years.

4Subsea plans to use the results for further development of its annulus monitoring system AMOS.
