INPEX to drill offshore Japan in 2016

The Agency of Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan has commissioned INPEX Corp. to drill one exploratory well for its “Heisei 26~28 Domestic Offshore Drilling Program in Japan.”

TOKYO– The Agency of Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan has commissioned INPEX Corp. to drill one exploratory well for its “Heisei 26~28 Domestic Offshore Drilling Program in Japan.”

The company plans to drill the exploratory well beginning in May 2016 until August 2016 at a location approximately 140 km (87 mi) north of Yamaguchi Prefecture and approximately 130 km (81 mi) northwest of Shimane Prefecture, where the water is 210 m (689 ft) deep.

INPEX will undertake a site survey in August 2015 to map the subsea surface and observe currents at the location.
