LONDON– Premier Oil expects an Ensco rig to start drilling soon on its Catcher field development in the UK central North Sea.
Subsea work has started with two templates installed and laying under way of the gas export pipe.
As for the FPSO, the mating cone module has been completed and delivered to the hull fabrication yard.
West of Shetland, theSiem Spearfish “walk-to-work” vessel is providing continuity of resources on the new Solan field platform until the larger Regalia flotel arrives in early August.
These two campaigns should facilitate habitation of the platform and completion of commissioning of the production systems to allow first oil later this year.
Commissioning of the subsea infrastructure began last month and remains on-track for completion in September. In parallel, drilling of the second pair of producer-injector wells has started.
In the Norwegian North Sea, Premier says it is now reviewing alternative lower-cost production facilities to a newbuild FPSO for itsVette (ex-Bream) development. It expects to issue a sanction decision for the project next year.
Later this month the company’s Myrhauk well should spud on the eastern flank of the Mandal High in the Norwegian sector, with results expected in September.
Offshore Indonesia, Premier’s Anoa Deep appraisal well spudded in April and reached target depth in June. Following encouraging logging results, preparations are under way to test the well with results likely later this month.
Premier adds that it is continuing to pursue its strategy of adding acreage in emerging plays. It has farmed into block 661 in the Ceara basin off Brazil, subject to government approval, and joined a consortium to evaluate Mexico’s Round 1 opportunities, with bidding scheduled for July 15.
