TRONDHEIM, NorwayAptomar will supply its “Clean To Operate” (CTO) service this summer in support of DEA Norge’s drilling activities on the Titan field in the Norwegian Sea.

The service provides round-the-clock detection, documentation, and reporting of potential oil spills.

Aptomar has provided this service to 20 previous drilling campaigns on the Norwegian continental shelf, most recently to Tullow Oil’s unsuccessful exploration well on theZumba prospect.

The company says its service is particularly relevant to drilling where all monitoring is normally executed from standby rescue and supply vessels.

The company’s monitoring, reporting, and sensor packages are based on an ALARP approach. The operator is given full access to a CTO web portal providing hourly, daily, and weekly reports.

If an oil spill is detected, the offshore installation is alarmed to all relevant parties, including the Norwegian Coastal Authority, allowing oil spill combat operations to be deployed.
