Accommodation rig collapses offshore Qatar

The jackup accommodation vessel Rumailah stationed at Maersk Oil Qatar’s Al Shaheen field was damaged when one of its legs collapsed causing the rig to tilt and partially submerge according to rig owner Gulf International.

DOHA, Qatar– The jackup accommodation vessel Rumailahstationed at Maersk Oil Qatar’s Al Shaheen field was damaged when one of its legs collapsed causing the rig to tilt and partially submerge according to rig owner Gulf International. There are no reports of injuries and all aboard are said to be safely evacuated.

The incident does not seem to have caused any damage to the Al Shaheen field operations.

Gulf International said the rig is destined for repair at the Nakilat shipyard.
