HOUSTON – Seanic Ocean Systems says its electric torque tool has performed well following field testing for an unnamed major oil company in the Norwegian North Sea.

The client commented on the high level of performance accuracy and innovative design features over the course of several jobs.

Seanic’s tool, operated with rotary power provided by an electric motor, is said to eliminate the need for a hydraulic supply provided by an ROV, hydraulic power unit, or intelligent valve pack. It is designed for both subsea and surface applications requiring up to 2,000 ft. lbs of torque.

Features are said to include highly accurate torque feedback, fully automated electro/hydraulic-actuated latches, and consistent performance and accuracy regardless of temperature and pressure fluctuations.

The electric torque tool is comparable in size to a standard hydraulic torque tool.
