Lundin aims to increase resources at Luno North

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin has spudded the 16/4-9 S exploratory well on the Luno II North prospect in the central Norwegian North Sea.

Luno II, operated byLundin Norway, is 15 km (9.3 mi) south of the company’s Edvard Grieg field development.

The well, in license PL359, will explore the Luno II North segment, directly northwest of theLuno II discovery.    

Lundin expects the reservoir to be of Jurassic/Triassic age, with potential resources of 24 MMboe. Luno II has estimated reserves in the 27-71 MMboe range.

Drilling is expected to last 50 days, with a planned TD of 2,490 m (8,169 ft) below mean sea level. Partners in the license are OMV (Norge), Wintershall Norge, and Statoil Petroleum.
